It is/was one of the earliest, and longest running, RPG series for the computer (mainly). Palladium doesn't plan to change RIFTS to a 2nd edition, but since they did desire to update some rules and setting information they did release an updated main-book (RIFTS Ultimate Edition) and that was all they needed.
